The idea behind this whiskey, as Glenmorangie's website tells, struck Dr. Bill Lumsden, the master distiller, while sipping Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The coffee's flavors lingered, inspiring him to infuse them into whiskey. Beyond coffee and mocha notes, it's intensely roasted and aged in three casks: ex-bourbon for creaminess, sherry for sweetness, and new charred oak for spice. Though ageless, it incorporates some of the oldest barrels in the warehouses. The result: a velvety explosion of flavors, bitterness from mocha, a hint of spices, and waves of dark chocolate mingling with buttery sweetness.
