The village, located on a rocky hill overlooking the Sacco Valley, is trying to replicate the success of towns like Mussomeli in Sicily and Zungoli in Campania, who managed to deal with the issue of abandoned houses and sold them to tourists at laughable prices

Patrica, for those unfamiliar, is a medieval village. It is located south of Rome and has barely 3,000 residents, with over 40 abandoned properties currently standing. While it may be considered idyllic in terms of scenery, life in the village was never easy, so most residents left it behind in search of a future in a place where life is easier and more prosperous.

Now, the mayor Lucio Fioravanti, who is trying to revive the place, has decided to offer the vacant houses for sale at just one euro. However, it seems that his initiative has not yet succeeded, mainly due to ownership issues.

Since the houses have been abandoned long ago, it is not easy to find their legal owners or heirs (sometimes there is only one heir). The ownership issue is currently at a standstill, at least, there is no possibility to sell the houses.
